Viprs Outreach

Saint Louis Catholic Academy

TheViPrs & St. Louis Catholic Academy STEM Camp met every Wednesday from 3:30 to 4:30 for seven weeks in the fall of 2019. Team volunteers served between 10-16 children ages 8-11 each week. We did everything from making edible DNA and paper atoms to having interactive lessons about plant cells. The innovative camp furthers the ViPrs dedication to the FIRST mission of spreading STEM to the greater community. The team is excited to foster its partnership with St. Louis Catholic Academy.

KEEN

For two years, the ViPrs KEEN STEM Camp has been serving children with physical and mental disabilities during the summers. Team volunteers served 16 children of all ages and abilities over a six week period. Activities consisted of making stomp rockets, learning about robotics, and other STEM-related activities. The inventive camp furthers the ViPrs dedication to the FIRST mission of spreading STEM to the greater community. The team is happy to be continuing its partnership with KEEN.

STEM Bags

The ViPrs make and donate their STEM Bags to schools in the St. Louis area. In the past, the ViPrs have donated STEM Bags to Saint. Cecilia School and Academy, Marian Middle School, and Boy and Girl Scout troupes.  In the STEM bags provided by the ViPrs, there is a rocket coloring sheet which the student can cut out and glue together. Then, they can put it on a straw, blow, and watch it fly. There is also a packet with more information about rockets and STEM coloring sheets and activities.

FLL Competition Field Building

In order to promote FIRST, the ViPrs partnered with other FRC teams to build FLL Field sets. The event not only was extremely productive but a great team bonding experience. The Viprs also mentor the Visitation Academy FLL team. In addition, many RoboRebel team members volunteer at FLL events.
